We had a wonderful guest speaker today from the Oahu Metro Planning Organization. He gave the kids a wonderful macro and micro view of the traffic situation on the island. If the kids are learning anything in this course, they are starting to understand the delicate balancing act mayors have to walk. Today's push-pulls were time vs. money, cost vs. benefits, and rural living vs. city living.
Students continue their city simulations focusing on traffic conditions and environmental issues associated with traffic.
On your drive home, here are some questions to ask your child:
What's the difference between dotted lines and solid lines?
What causes potholes?
How can you fix potholes?
Students wrote about a 'bike lift' that Norway has invented. They all wrote letters of support or disinterest supporting their opinions of this new technology.
