As a follow up to yesterday's work, students read and responded to each other's blog entries.
Students then chose new partners and started new cities. All the students were directed to identical terrain with identical resources, so they've all started on even ground. Their decisions alone will determine the success of their cities. We continue to focus on the concept that they are not actually creating cities, but creating the conditions for city to rise and thrive.

Using 3D modeling software (SketchUp), students created cityscapes again, but this time color-coded their buildings based on zoning and density. Our Kakaako tour reinforced the need for ample parking in our urban jungles. We'd actually be thrilled to see a student commit his or her citizens to a car-free lifestyle as long as there was thought behind it.
